The Old Mount Hermon Baptist Church was established in January 1945 in Mount Thompson, Exuma by Amos Rolle and Edwin J Rolle.  Prior to this the people of Mount Thompson worshipped nearby at Bethel Baptist Church, Ramsey, Exuma. Previous Lay Leaders were Amos Rolle and Edwin J Rolle (both deceased) and Thomas Rolle. Some of the original members that are still alive today are Elizabeth Bullard, Ivamae Ferguson, Erma Rolle, Myrtlenell Rolle, Savaletha Rolle and Thomas Rolle.

In the late fifties the Mount Hermon Church building was given to the Seventh Day Adventist by Amos Rolle.  However, Edwin Rolle was able to regain it and keep Mount Hermon as a Baptist Church.History was made in 2002 when the church appointed its first Past, Rev Kendal A McKenzie, who was inducted on March 16th 2003.Since 2003 the church has grown spiritually and in its membership, for this we give God the glory. In addition upgrades and enhancements have transformed the sanctuary into The New Mount Hermon Baptist Church.

bullet Biography of Pastor Kendal A McKenzie

Pastor Kendal A McKenzie was born in Nassau, Bahamas.  He is the son of the late Benjamin McKenzie and Gladys Ferguson.

He received his early education at Harold Road High School (now A F Adderley), C R Walker Technical College and The College of the Bahamas.

Pastor McKenzie was mentored in his spiritual walk by the late pastors E J Rolle and L E Moss.

Pastor McKenzie was installed as Pastor of The New Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Mt Thompson, Exuma on March 16th 2003.  Since that time God has blessed the Ministry.

This man of God is tremendously passionate about the Word of God and its ability to change lives.  Pastor McKenzie believes in spiritual honesty, integrity and accountability, and this is conveyed in his messages.

Under Pastor McKenzie’s leadership the Church has grown spiritually and in its membership, and has made upgrades and enhancements to the sanctuary.

Pastor McKenzie was employed by the Bahamas Telecommunications Company, until October 31st 2007, before he retired to go into Ministry full time.

Pastor McKenzie is married to the former Juanita Lavern Marshall of George Town, Exuma, and they are blessed with one daughter Octavia Alicia.

bullet Biography of Minister Juanita L McKenzie

Juanita L McKenzie was born in Nassau, Bahamas to the parents of Livingstone and Shirley Marshall of George Town, Exuma.  She received her early education at the George Town All Age School, and St John’s College in Nassau.  She holds diplomas in Secretarial Science and Business Management.

Minister McKenzie was employed by the Bahamas Telecommunications Company for 23 years before retiring in 1999.

Minister McKenzie serves with her husband the Rev Kendal McKenzie at The New Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Mt Thompson, Exuma.  She serves as the Church’s Administrator and heads the Women’s Ministry which ministers to and meets the needs of a diverse group of women, young  and old in her congregation, enabling them to know who they are in Christ and what God’s purpose is for their lives.

She and Pastor McKenzie have been married for the past 28 years, and are the proud parents of one daughter Octavia Alicia.
